Groat oats are excellent source of thiamine, iron, and dietary fiber. Groat oats are also the only source of antioxidant compounds known as avenanthramides; which help to protect the circulatory system from arteriosclerosis. They also contain beta-glucan, which may help people with Type 2 diabetes control their blood glucose level, and might also help stimulate the immune system to fight off bacterial infections.

Suggested Usage

Bringing two cups (or less) of water to a boil with one cup of groat otas, covering at a low simmer and cooking for 10–15 minutes or until the germ separates from the seed. Serve with nuts and other seeds to make a richer protein. You can eat them raw, just soak them for 3-4 hrs with your favourite nut or seed milk.
